Jewelry Care

How do I store my jewelry so it doesn't tarnish?

Keep your jewelry dry.

Separate your jewelry by metal and type.

If you keep your jewelry out in the open, store it in a place with a consistent temperature.

Store delicate jewelry in a dark and dry location.

When in doubt, keep your jewelry clean and dry.

How do you protect your gold plated Jewelry?

Here are just a few tips:

Remove your jewelry before you swim in chlorine or salt water.

Remove your jewelry before participating in activities that will cause you to sweat a lot.

Wait to put on your jewelry until after you have applied lotion, makeup or perfume.

Remove jewelry if you will be bringing it into contact with something hard. (For example, take off your ring before lifting weights.)

Store your plated jewelry where it won’t rub against other hard substances (a soft bag—one per piece of jewelry—is ideal).

How do you take care of metal jewelry?

To clean most metals (sterling silver, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, niobium, and gold-fill), soak jewelry in soapy water for several minutes. Then lather with soap and gently but briskly rub the jewelry between your palms. Rinse with warm water and let air dry, or use a blow dryer on lowest and coolest setting.

How do you take care of gemstone jewelry?

Gemstones can scratch other gemstones and wear away at precious metals. Therefore, avoid stacking those rings and bracelets that would be vulnerable to such abrasion. Extreme temperatures, perfumes, cosmetics, ultrasonic cleaning and household chemicals can also damage jewelry.
